If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma symptoms, mood instability, or emotional distress, getting the right diagnosis and medication plan can make a major difference. Legacy Recovery Center provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management in Arizona within a structured residential mental health setting — with board-certified psychiatric oversight, evidence-based therapy, and 24/7 support.
When symptoms feel persistent, unpredictable, or overwhelming, it can be hard to know what’s “normal,” what’s treatable, and what level of support is needed. Many people try therapy and medication adjustments on their own or through brief appointments — and still feel stuck.
Residential treatment offers a different level of care: time, structure, and consistent clinical oversight to evaluate symptoms, clarify diagnosis, and stabilize with a thoughtful treatment plan.
Symptoms are interfering with sleep, work, relationships, or daily routines
You’re not sure what diagnosis fits your symptoms (or diagnoses have changed)
Current medications aren’t working, or side effects feel unmanageable
Mood swings, panic, intrusive thoughts, or trauma symptoms feel hard to control
You’ve had recent crises, ER visits, or higher-acuity episodes
Substance use may be complicating symptoms, medications, or stability
Psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive clinical assessment used to understand symptoms, mental health history, medical factors, and how a person is functioning day to day. Medication management is the ongoing process of selecting, adjusting, and monitoring psychiatric medications when clinically appropriate — with attention to effectiveness, safety, and side effects.
At Legacy Recovery Center, psychiatric services are integrated into residential treatment, meaning medication decisions aren’t made in isolation. They’re coordinated with therapy, daily structure, and ongoing clinical observation to support meaningful stabilization.
A thorough psychiatric assessment helps clarify symptoms, rule out contributing factors, and guide an accurate diagnosis and treatment direction.
Adjustments can be made with close monitoring, education, and support — especially important when symptoms are severe or complex.
Medication can support symptom relief, while therapy builds coping skills and long-term tools for recovery. Finding ways to support a loved one can be incredibly beneficial during difficult times. Simple gestures, such as listening and being present, can make a significant difference in their journey. Additionally, encouraging participation in activities that promote well-being can foster a sense of connection and hope. Supporting individuals with anxiety disorders often involves creating a safe and understanding environment. Open communication about their feelings can help alleviate some of the burden they may feel. Additionally, exploring mindfulness techniques or relaxation exercises together can enhance their coping strategies and resilience.
Medication can be helpful, but quick outpatient visits don’t always provide enough time or structure to understand what’s really happening — especially with overlapping symptoms, trauma history, or co-occurring substance use. In residential treatment, clinical teams can observe patterns over time and provide consistent support during changes.
At Legacy Recovery Center, residents receive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and evidence-based therapy in a calm, structured environment designed to support safety and healing.

When appropriate, medication is prescribed or adjusted thoughtfully — with careful monitoring, education, and a focus on benefits and tolerability.
Therapy supports insight, emotional regulation, and coping skills — and helps ensure medication supports the broader treatment goals. Effective therapies for treating PTSD can greatly enhance the overall quality of life for individuals affected by this condition. By incorporating various therapeutic approaches, patients can find more effective ways to manage their symptoms. This holistic approach encourages long-term recovery and resilience.

Dave and the team at Legacy Recovery were supportive and dedicated to helping our son with not just sobriety, but more important, his mental health. Our son had attempted suicide and I was so worried about finding him the right help. Legacy’s mental health first and substance abuse second approach is spot on, saving our son through the darkest of days. A big shout out to Melanie for the weekly family therapy sessions. A life saver for me! The counseling provided to family members is outstanding and so helpful with setting boundaries. Legacy’s commitment to help and counsel all the way to and then through sober living, clearly is above and beyond. We are extremely grateful to every single staff member for your caring, professional, supportive, loving and understanding care. Without you, we are not sure that our son would be on this road to recovery.
Legacy recover has been an amazing experience. I came into the program broken, depressed and lost. The progress i made in the short time is incredible. The staff are amazing and the property is a calming atmosphere. I recommend this recovery program. Everything on its schedule is put together to help every health need.
I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the exceptional care and support that Legacy has provided to my husband during one of the most challenging times in his life. Struggling with mental health, my husband had reached a breaking point, and we knew something needed to change. From the moment I spoke with Dave on the phone, to the intake with Shea and Nathan, we were met with nothing but kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern for his well-being.
I want to express my deep gratitude for the staff at Legacy Recovery Center.
I recently had a loved one go through a severe mental health crisis. What followed was months of our loved one in and out of *multiple* hospitalizations, in-patient treatment facilities, and residential programs, both locally and in California. I will be spending some time trying to figure out why Legacy ended up being the place to bring some stability and healing when all of the other highly rated facilities simply could not. I am sure timing played a part, but even if the ‘timing’ is right, the facility needs to be able to execute and have the right staff.
For other families going through this same issue, it’s easy to become disenfranchised with the process. A couple of the previous facilities were almost predatory in their approach to admissions. They were full of promises, highlighting their luxury amenities or touting the qualifications of their head staff. What I have learned is that at most facilities, those highly qualified lead doctors are rarely at the facility. Do a quick search on them, and you will find they are often associated with multiple mental health facilities and are simply ‘overseeing’ the process. I am not writing that to be critical of that system, as their experience is important in structuring a successful mental health treatment program. But know that most of the hard work is done with the day to day staff and therapists. And as others have already mentioned, all of the staff at Legacy are absolutely amazing.
On top of the frustrating admissions process, I felt that many of the facilities overly medicated our loved one. Please know, I believe medication is critical as part of mental health. But in our case, I felt that our loved one was declining each day while they were being shuffled from facility to facility. My fear was they would eventually be ‘lost in the system’, which was realized when they were eventually discharged to the streets of LA.
It was an emotional roller coaster when our loved one called and wanted to try again with residential treatment. They had found Legacy Recovery Center and had been coordinating with Dave.
Step one to success – honest and helpful admissions. Dave is a life saver. He was able to get our loved one admitted that same day. There were hard conversations, but they were delivered with honesty and compassion. And his dedication is amazing. Dave was extremely responsive, even during the holiday season. And Dave continues to be actively involved throughout the entire process, which was comforting.
The therapy staff at Legacy were… well let me say that after attending a joint therapy session with our loved one, and meeting several of the staff, I am baffled at their insight, observational ability, and skills at coaxing out so much, all with a masterful balance of honesty, directness, and compassion. I went to support my loved one, and left feeling like I personally had just gone through one of the best therapy sessions of my life.
Most importantly to me, they listened to what we had observed regarding prior treatment and medication, and did not simply follow what the previous facilities had done. Ultimately, our loved one did need medication, but the staff at Legacy worked to find the right balance. If anything, I think this was a critical reason that our loved one was successful at Legacy. They felt heard and were part of the process.
Finally, the facility was great. Honestly, that was not as important to me, so long as they could help our loved one. But it is a lovely large home with plenty of communal spaces and spaces to get some privacy. Physical health is prioritized here as well, and the home has a fitness center and regular fitness classes. At all of my visits, it felt calm and comfortable. It is a safe place.
Ultimately, Legacy was able to provide the mental health treatment for our loved one that others were not able to do. And that is what matters.
Legacy Recovery Center is the real deal and was a life-changing experience for me. Their mental health first approach to substance abuse was exactly what I needed.
