Do You Need Alcohol Addiction Treatment?

Coming to terms with an Alcohol addiction is not easy. It is difficult to admit to oneself that they have a condition which will require them to give up drinking, should they wish to live a healthy life. You may be unsure whether you have this addiction and perhaps you have looked into some alcohol detox clinics. The following symptoms of Alcohol addiction may help you determine whether or not you should look further into alcohol treatment programs in Arizona: Effective addiction treatment strategies can greatly enhance the chances of recovery. Seeking professional help and understanding the various options available can lead to a more tailored approach to your needs. By recognizing the importance of support systems, individuals can find the motivation necessary to overcome their challenges.

Alcohol Addiction Symptoms

  • Inability to control drinking. This is one of the major signs of alcohol addiction. People with alcohol addiction will begin to lose control over how much they drink, or how often they drink. Often times, people will attempt to moderate or stop drinking all together. Someone with alcohol addiction is unable to do this, no matter how hard they try. They may succeed for a short period of time, but eventually the alcoholic drinking pattern resumes.
  • Craving alcohol. Wanting to have a drink with friends or loved ones at appropriate times is not a sign of alcohol addiction. However, craving it at inappropriate times such as while at work or in the mornings can be a warning sign. Over time someone with alcohol addiction will experience increased cravings, sometimes to the point where drinking is all they can think about.
  • Putting alcohol before other responsibilities. When someone starts to sacrifice their responsibilities, such as work, or time with family it is a clear warning sign of alcohol addiction.
  • Withdrawal symptoms appear. Withdrawal occurs when someone drinks too much alcohol over a long period of time. Symptoms include shaking, vomiting, excessive sweating, increased blood pressure, stroke, or seizures. Alcohol withdrawal can be fatal, so if you or a loved one are experiencing these symptoms seek medical assistance immediately.

Treating Alcohol Addiction

Inability to control consumption of alcohol when issues such as health concerns arise, issues at work due to drinking, strained relationships with friends and family, and the inability to stop even if you have tried to stop or cut down. If any of these situations apply to you, it is worth considering getting help. Alcoholism is classified as a progressive illness by the American Medical Association. This means that with time, if left untreated, it will get worse. You may only be experiencing some of these situations, and maybe they aren’t overly concerning, but over time, they will become more common in your day-to-day life. The First Step Is to Seek Help

If you have decided that you have an alcohol addiction, the first step is to seek help. Overcoming alcohol addiction alone is extremely difficult and not recommended. The reason is that alcoholism is a complex disease that affects the person physically, mentally, and emotionally. Additionally, individuals with alcohol addiction are more likely to struggle with a co-occurring mental health disorder such as depression, anxiety, or trauma. Many people find it helpful to utilize addiction recovery resources in Tempe as part of their journey towards sobriety. These resources can provide essential support and guidance, making the process feel less isolating. Engaging with local support groups or counseling services can significantly enhance the chances of successful recovery.

Seeking help in a setting such as Legacy Recovery Centers alcohol rehab will provide clients the best opportunity at recovery. Clients will receive treatment from Masters Level therapists, as well as receive psychiatric care from our owners Dr. Roland Segal and Dr. Ehab Abdallah. Clients will also be removed from the environment which they used to drink in, giving them the opportunity to focus solely on themselves and their recovery. Finally, studies indicate that a sense of community is of paramount importance to those fighting alcohol addiction. Being surrounded by others who are facing the same challenges, and can understand from personal experience greatly benefits the alcoholic in their recovery journey. Thank you to legacy recovery center for all the help you have given me. I can’t express my gratitude enough to the staff and clinical/ medical team. All the effort you put in to helping me get to a place where I could then follow through and give myself the same effort and care was greatly appreciated. My stay at legacy was very warmly welcomed even with my extended stay. They are lgbtq+ friendly and that is difficult to find in treatment centers so I’m grateful for the people who need that extra support. The groups that they have are thorough and every assignment is designated to help you. You will be helped immensely and they will get you on the track to recovery in both substance and mental health. I had a great experience and hope that you seriously consider getting the help you or your loved one need as this is the place for it.

Probably the best RTC I’ve been to, and the staff are phenomenal at aiding you throughout the process of your stay. I had a memorable time through struggles I was able to get through, recommitting to family dynamics, and the ability to recover from unhealthy lifestyle choices and mental illness diagnoses to a life more fulfilling. They were able to get a smooth transition through RTC to an aftercare plan suitable to get me a continuance of care. Thanks so much to everyone at Legacy I’ve met, I have a hopeful outlook and realistic perspective of a future to have.

this is the third treatment center i have ever attended and i can say by far that this is the BEST one i have ever been to. they strictly focus on mental health and uncovering traumas i was always so scared to talk about. on top of that, the staff has always been so generous and genuine and that’s rare to find in treatment centers. it was a life changing experience for me that i’ll never forget- thank you!

Dave and the team at Legacy Recovery were supportive and dedicated to helping our son with not just sobriety, but more important, his mental health. Our son had attempted suicide and I was so worried about finding him the right help. Legacy’s mental health first and substance abuse second approach is spot on, saving our son through the darkest of days. A big shout out to Melanie for the weekly family therapy sessions. A life saver for me! The counseling provided to family members is outstanding and so helpful with setting boundaries. Legacy’s commitment to help and counsel all the way to and then through sober living, clearly is above and beyond. We are extremely grateful to every single staff member for your caring, professional, supportive, loving and understanding care. Without you, we are not sure that our son would be on this road to recovery. Thank you.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the exceptional care and support that Legacy has provided to my husband during one of the most challenging times in his life. Struggling with mental health, my husband had reached a breaking point, and we knew something needed to change. From the moment I spoke with Dave on the phone, to the intake with Shea and Nathan, we were met with nothing but kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern for his well-being. The staff is nothing short of incredible. They took the time to listen, understand, and design a treatment plan that was tailored to my husband’s specific needs. They not only focused on his symptoms but also helped him work on the root causes of his struggles, allowing him to start the healing process on a deeper level and they kept me in the loop weekly on how he was progressing. My husband has never been the one to open about his feelings, but the team created a safe space for him to do so, helping him feel supported every step of the way. They have worked closely with him, helping him develop coping mechanisms and strategies to manage his mental health in ways that felt empowering. Thanks to their comprehensive treatment and unwavering support, my husband has made incredible progress. He is now more calm, and in control of his mental health than ever before. I can actually hear the positivity in his voice when speaking to him and there is a light about him that is finally back. The transformation I've seen in him is truly remarkable, and I will forever be grateful for the care and expertise of everyone at Legacy. The work they do is life-changing, and we are so fortunate to have found such a dedicated and caring team to help my husband reclaim his life. I just want to thank everyone at Legacy for all that you have done. I know there is still continued work to be done and his journey is not over, but he will be able to persevere because of everything he has learned with Legacy. Thank you all!

I want to express my deep gratitude for the staff at Legacy Recovery Center. I recently had a loved one go through a severe mental health crisis. What followed was months of our loved one in and out of *multiple* hospitalizations, in-patient treatment facilities, and residential programs, both locally and in California. I will be spending some time trying to figure out why Legacy ended up being the place to bring some stability and healing when all of the other highly rated facilities simply could not. I am sure timing played a part, but even if the 'timing' is right, the facility needs to be able to execute and have the right staff. For other families going through this same issue, it's easy to become disenfranchised with the process. A couple of the previous facilities were almost predatory in their approach to admissions. They were full of promises, highlighting their luxury amenities or touting the qualifications of their head staff. What I have learned is that at most facilities, those highly qualified lead doctors are rarely at the facility. Do a quick search on them, and you will find they are often associated with multiple mental health facilities and are simply 'overseeing' the process. I am not writing that to be critical of that system, as their experience is important in structuring a successful mental health treatment program. But know that most of the hard work is done with the day to day staff and therapists. And as others have already mentioned, all of the staff at Legacy are absolutely amazing. On top of the frustrating admissions process, I felt that many of the facilities overly medicated our loved one. Please know, I believe medication is critical as part of mental health. But in our case, I felt that our loved one was declining each day while they were being shuffled from facility to facility. My fear was they would eventually be 'lost in the system', which was realized when they were eventually discharged to the streets of LA. It was an emotional roller coaster when our loved one called and wanted to try again with residential treatment. They had found Legacy Recovery Center and had been coordinating with Dave. Step one to success - honest and helpful admissions. Dave is a life saver. He was able to get our loved one admitted that same day. There were hard conversations, but they were delivered with honesty and compassion. And his dedication is amazing. Dave was extremely responsive, even during the holiday season. And Dave continues to be actively involved throughout the entire process, which was comforting. The therapy staff at Legacy were... well let me say that after attending a joint therapy session with our loved one, and meeting several of the staff, I am baffled at their insight, observational ability, and skills at coaxing out so much, all with a masterful balance of honesty, directness, and compassion. I went to support my loved one, and left feeling like I personally had just gone through one of the best therapy sessions of my life. Most importantly to me, they listened to what we had observed regarding prior treatment and medication, and did not simply follow what the previous facilities had done. Ultimately, our loved one did need medication, but the staff at Legacy worked to find the right balance. If anything, I think this was a critical reason that our loved one was successful at Legacy. They felt heard and were part of the process. Finally, the facility was great. Honestly, that was not as important to me, so long as they could help our loved one. But it is a lovely large home with plenty of communal spaces and spaces to get some privacy. Physical health is prioritized here as well, and the home has a fitness center and regular fitness classes. At all of my visits, it felt calm and comfortable. It is a safe place. Ultimately, Legacy was able to provide the mental health treatment for our loved one that others were not able to do. And that is what matters.
